On my way to the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I heard of Los Amigos Invisibles before, but all I knew at the time was that they were hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, and had an appreciation for crude humor. I kept asking myself What is this Latin dance/funk band about?” I was just hoping it’d be something worth watching, and not another one of those experimental flops we hate witnessing…..I have to admit, the risk was worth it! It was hands down one of the most entertaining shows I’ve ever been to; a non-stop dance party that progressively got better and better. Midway into the show I couldn’t believe I was there, I kept thinking “Are you serious?, are these guys actually doing this…here….in LA? wow!” They played songs with so much groove that I didn’t understand how such a great band wasn’t blowing up the radio waves. Then I figured it out. The world wasn’t ready for it. The ‘real world’ just couldn’t handle such a phat groove, sexy guitar licks, and solid latin percussion. In terms of hott latin bands, Los Amigos are a must see! Even if you don’t know their songs, or speak spanish, you’ll have a blast, guaranteed! www.amigosinvisibles.com
